Here are just a few: The child prodigy, piano virtuoso and composer J. N. Hummel was born in Bratislava and has a museum here. We will mention the visits of his teachers W. A. Mozart, J. Haydn and his friend L. van Beethoven. We will not forget F. Liszt, the piano virtuoso and “musical patron of Bratislava”, his friend the one-handed pianist G. Zichy, his son-in-law H. von Bülow and his rival A. G. Rubinštejn. F. Schmidt and E. Dohnányi were born here and their classmates from the gymnasium B. Bartók and A. Albrecht – the last conductor of the Church Music Society at St. Martin’s Cathedral – also worked here.
